Murray County Schools is partnering with Edia Learning to make it easier for families and schools to communicate about student attendance.

If your child is absent, you may receive a text message from our new AI Attendance Assistant. Families can reply directly to the message, send documentation such as doctor’s notes, and communicate in the language they’re most comfortable using.

As with any new tool, there may be a few adjustments along the way. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the rollout and make sure the system is working as smoothly as possible for our families.

Today, we’re celebrating the custodians who do so much behind the scenes to take care of our schools.

A lot of their work happens before students arrive, after they leave, and all throughout the day. We’re thankful for everything they do to keep our schools clean, safe, and welcoming.

Happy National School Custodian Appreciation Day to our amazing custodial teams across Murray County Schools!

Today is Georgia Reads Day and the start of Georgia Reads Week! 📚

Building strong readers doesn’t only happen in the classroom. Some of the best opportunities happen in the everyday moments families share together.
This week, Georgia Reads is encouraging families to spend a few minutes each day reading, talking, singing, sharing stories, and connecting. Even a few minutes together can make a difference.

Check out these five simple ways to celebrate Georgia Reads Week with your family!

Today, we are proud to recognize the Murray County School District Bus Driver of the Year, Jody Jones, driver of Bus 17-91! Mr. Jody is known for his positive demeanor, calm composure, and the genuine care he shows every single day to our students, staff, and families. From greeting students each morning with a smile to building strong relationships with parents and coworkers, he creates an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and valued. His famous Hawaiian button-up shirts have become a fun trademark that students look forward to seeing, bringing a little extra joy and personality to the school day. Beyond his friendly and hospitable attitude, Mr. Jody exemplifies a true blue-collar work ethic — dependable, hardworking, and always willing to go above and beyond without seeking recognition. Rain or shine, he handles every situation with professionalism, patience, and steady composure. We are incredibly thankful for the impact he makes on our school community and for the care he puts into safely transporting our students each day.
