We have made it to the finals for Attendance March Madness!
Rileys' Renegades (5th Grade) vs Carroll's Crushers (2nd Grade)

Congratulations to the competing classroom with the best overall attendance percentage for the week: Riley's Renegades! Carroll's Crushers get the award for most improved attendance this week, with an increase of almost 3%. Nice work!

Here are some stats and facts for the week:
Mrs. Riley's homeroom ended this week with the exact same overall attendance percentage as last week: 95.17%. Great work!

3 of our 4 competing homerooms had attendance percentages of 90% or higher. Way to go!

We didn't have any tight races this week, but next week's matchup is going to be a nail-biter: our final two teams were separated by less than 0.2%.

The Final Four is set:
Hemphill's Heroes vs Riley's Renegades
Grant's Great Group vs Carroll's Crushers

Here are some stats and facts for the week:
7 of 8 competing classrooms had an overall attendance rate of 90% or higher. Good work to all of you! Let's see if our last 4 teams can maintain a total above 90% next week.

Each classroom that was winning on Wednesday was only winning by a small margin: between 1% and 2%. Thursday and Friday's attendance was the game-changer in these matchups!

By Thursday, Green's Grizzlies and Carroll's Crushers were separated by only 0.3%... it all came down to Friday's attendance for these rooms.

🎉 Last call for the Spring Scholastic Book Fair! Tomorrow (Friday) is our grand finale, and we're wrapping up at 12:00 PM sharp. 📚

Here's the scoop: if you're planning to set up an EWallet for your child, tonight's the night! ⏰ Get it done this evening so your kiddo can hit the shelves first thing tomorrow morning. Every class will have shopping time before we close up shop at noon. 🛍️

Missed something special? No worries! 💫 Online shopping stays open through the 18th, and it still supports our library. Head over to our Book Fair Homepage to continue the literary adventure: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/northwestelementaryschool1

Thanks for making this book fair absolutely amazing! 📖✨

📚 Tick tock, book lovers! Our Book Fair closes its doors for the year at 2:30 PM on Friday. ⏰ If you haven't set up an Ewallet for your student yet, there's still time—remember any unused balance will roll over to next year. A friendly heads-up: toss in a little extra for taxes when you're sending money. 🎉 Thank you so much for making this year's Book Fair absolutely amazing—your support has been incredible, and our sales have been soaring! 📖✨

📚 Our Book Fair is in FULL SWING through Friday and your child will get to shop during class! Here's the scoop: we're running low on change (especially those sneaky pennies 🪙), so we won't be giving back pennies. BUT here's the cool part—students can round up to the nearest dollar and donate to Share the Fair! 🎁 That generous pot goes straight toward new books for our media center or helps classmates who need a little extra to snag their favorites.

Oh, and one more heads-up: taxes apply at checkout, so remind your child to bring a smidge extra cash just in case! 💵 Thanks so much for supporting our mission to fill our shelves with amazing stories. You're the best! 📖✨

You can still set up an e-wallet for your child. This saves them from having to carry money around with them.

Want to make shopping even smoother? 💳 Set up an E-Wallet so your student can browse, pick, and pay without lugging around a backpack full of cash. It's basically a digital piggy bank that makes book hunting way more convenient!

Head over to https://www.scholastic.com/bf/northwestelementaryschool1 to get started. Happy reading! 📖✨

We now have an elite eight for our attendance March Madness competition!

Shout out to the following classes:

Congrats to the competing classroom with the most improved attendance this week: Green's Grizzlies! Their attendance improved by 8% from last week. Thanks for being here every day, Grizzlies!

Great job to the class with the best overall attendance percentage for the week: Riley's Renegades! Mrs. Riley's class had only one absence all week.

Coming in second was another class with only one absence for the entire week: Whaley's Whales. Awesome to see your faces every day!

Here are some stats and facts for last week:

Every competing class had an overall attendance percentage above 90%. Way to go!

Through Tuesday, Mrs. Grant and Mrs. Ridley's classes were tied for the week's highest percentage. They weren't the only class with a close race this week: 6 of the 8 matchups were separated by less than 3% by Wednesday. It really was anyone's game!

On Wednesday, Knick's Knick Knacks and Whaley's Whales were separated by only 0.4%. Thursday and Friday were the deciding days for this matchup, but great work to both homerooms!

Excited to see who makes it to the Final Four! Congrats to the advancing teams, and we appreciate you encouraging your students to be here each and every day!

Elite 8 Matchups:
Hemphill's Heroes vs Minter's Macaws
Riley's Renegades vs Silver's Seaturtles
Grant's Great Group vs Whaley's Whales
Carroll's Crushers vs Green's Grizzlies

Who will advance to the Final Four and be one step closer to bragging rights, Kona Ice, and Pizza?

Round 1 of Attendance March Madness is complete! We will begin Round 2 of our Attendance March Madness Tournament, the Sweet Sixteen.

Great job to the class with the most improved attendance this week: Silvers' Sea Turtles! Their attendance improved by 12% from last week. Congratulations to Mrs. Silvers' class!

The classroom with the best attendance percentage for the week was Vaughn's Vampires! Nice work! Knick's Knick Knacks were right behind them: they had the second-highest percentage, and only 0.2% separated them from the two rooms ahead.

Some fun stats for the week:

We had 8 classrooms start out the week at 100%, but by Tuesday, everyone lost the chance for their perfect week, except 1: Whaley's Whales. Mrs. Whaley's class nearly had a perfect week: there were only 2 absences for the entire week in her room!

On Tuesday, H's Hurricanes and Nix's Nice Ninjas had just about 1% separating them. That increased to a 2.5% difference by Thursday.

On Thursday, Clifford's Cubs and Grant's Great Group were separated by just under 1.5%. This was a nail-biter!

5 classrooms had overall attendance percentages below 90% for the week. That's a lower number than last week, but let's see if each and every classroom can make that goal next week!

11 classrooms had an overall attendance percentage of 95% or higher for the week. This is almost double the number of classrooms that hit that percentage the week before break. Let's see if we have more next week!

Looking forward to some fun matchups next week! Thank you for encouraging your students to be here every day!

Sweet Sixteen - Round 2 Matchups:
Hemphills Heroes vs Smith's Shining Stars
Minter's Macaws vs Abernathy's Avengers
Riley's Renegades vs Anderson's Angry Alpacas
Silver's Sea Turtles vs Vaughn's Vampires
Ridley's Rascals vs Grant's Great Group
Knick's Knick Knacks vs Whaley's Whales
Caroll's Crushers vs Newton's Narwhals
H's Hurricanes vs Green's Grizzlies

On Friday, February 27, our school will host a special assembly to celebrate Sloane Singleton, who has been named Murray County's Teacher of the Year. This recognition reflects her dedication to our students and our school community. The assembly will bring together our students, staff, and invited guests to honor this achievement. We invite NWE to wear our school colors—Black and Gold—on Friday to show our Northwest Pride. Mrs. Singleton's contributions to our music program have made a meaningful difference at NWE, and we look forward to celebrating her accomplishment together.
