Attendance is important, and we are a competitive bunch. This week started the seeding process for our March Madness Attendance Challenge. Parents, please help by ensuring your students arrive at school every day. The winning class will receive a Pizza Party and bragging rights. The week after the break, we will start the first round of the tournament with six intriguing first-round matchups.

We have 6 classrooms that earned a first-round bye because they had the highest attendance percentages for the week. They are:

Great job to all of you! Also, a great job overall: 16 out of 22 classrooms had a final weekly attendance percentage above 90%. Let's see if we can beat that number the week after break! We think we can!
Some more fun stats for you:
We had 100% attendance in two classrooms through Wednesday: Green and Ridley. Green was at 100% for the week until this morning.
Less than 1% separated Hemphill and Green this week, but Ridley and Green were even closer: it was less than 0.25% that separated them.
Hemphill and Ridley were tied at 98.1% on Thursday.

PBIS BINGO starts tomorrow for grades - Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd. PBIS BINGO will resume on Friday morning for grades 3, 4, and 5. $1 to play, and the top three in each grade level will earn a prize.

Northwest Elementary is currently in a medical soft lockdown. All students and staff are safe. At approximately 12:50 PM, a student experienced a medical emergency that required us to initiate medical soft lockdown procedures. The safety and well-being of students and staff remain Northwest Elementary’s highest priority, and all district safety policies and procedures were followed. The parents of the student involved have been contacted and notified. We appreciate your support and cooperation as we continue to prioritize the safety of our school community.

The 3rd Annual PBIS Dodgeball Tournament happens next Thursday, December 18th, 2025. It is free for students to watch, but 3$ for students to play. This tournament is for third-, fourth-, and fifth-graders. This is a double-elimination tournament, and the winning team will receive a prize.

Fundraiser News - Any student who sells an entire box of chocolate will get to go on a trip to Gladden Middle School in March to watch an exciting Dunk Show — plus all the other prizes already listed on the flyer! One of the chocolate boxes will contain a GOLDEN TICKET! The student who finds it will win a 5 lb chocolate bar.

PBIS has some fun things lined up for the end of the week!
On Thursday, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade can pay $1 to play in Santa Says (Simon Says). The top three winners will receive prizes.
On Friday, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade can pay 1$ to play in the Tic-Tac-Toe tournament. The top three winners will receive prizes.

PBIS presents Rock Paper Scissors Royale! The tournament is coming this Thursday (Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade) and Friday (3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade). Students can pay 1$ to enter the tournament. There will be practice rounds before the tournament begins. The top three finalists will earn a reward from the PBIS store.
