Attendance March Madness is officially set! Shoutout to the classes who landed a first-round BYE in the tournament for having the highest attendance percentage this week. The winning class of the tournament will get a pizza party and the teacher will win a surprise. We are striving for good attendance in March in preparation for our final diagnostics and the Ga Milestones! We will update the bracket with the results at the end of each week. Pre-sale of Tickets for the Family Valentine's Day Dance go on sale Monday, February 3. Get your tickets early. The dance is on Friday, February 7, 5-7 pm.

Due to extremely low temperatures and expected wind chills in the single digits and/or possibly approaching 0 degrees, Murray County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22. The combination of extremely low temperatures and wind chill poses significant challenges, particularly for children waiting outside for buses as well as the loading and unloading of our special needs buses. These temperatures may also present challenges that affect bus operations and building maintenance.

Important School Closure Announcement from the Central Office: Due to the icy conditions on many of our county's backroads and neighborhoods, and with nearly 20 bus routes deemed dangerous, we have made the decision to close all schools tomorrow to ensure the safety of our students, bus drivers, and staff. Keeping safety as our top priority, we want to prevent any risks associated with traveling in these hazardous conditions. We are expecting warmer weather tomorrow and will monitor the situation closely. We will provide an update regarding the status of schools on Tuesday as soon as possible. For those involved in after-school activities and extracurricular events, coaches and staff will communicate any changes or updates directly. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Hey everyone! Here’s what you need to know about tomorrow, Friday, January 10, 2025: • No School: All Murray County Schools and office buildings will be closed. • No Activities: No after-school activities or extracurricular events on Friday. • Weekend Events: Updates for Saturday and Sunday events will come from your coaches and school staff. We’ll keep an eye on the weather and let you know about Monday’s schedule as soon as possible. Our goal is to keep things as easy and convenient for you as we can. Stay safe and warm out there! ❄️💙

The PBIS Dodgeball tournament is this Thursday! - 4th, 5th, & 6th grade - 3$ to play - 7 players per team - Double elimination (guarantee a minimum of two games) - Prize for the winning team

Just a reminder that tonight is our Title I Holiday Happening Night (4:30-6:00) Chorus concert to follow at the Gym. Visit your child's grade level for an academic activity and craft. Visit the Yearbook Table to purchase or order a yearbook. Stop by the media center with Mrs. Brock to complete a Holiday Activity. Mrs. Peacock, NWE Art Teacher will be signing up students from 4th, 5th, & 6th Grade for her Afterschool Art Club. The cost is $50.00 for 6 after-school art classes. She has wonderful activities planned. Money raised from this fundraiser will be used to purchase supplies for ALL students to use in the art room. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, December 18. See her tonight for paperwork and reserve one of the limited spots. We are looking forward to seeing our Wildcats and their parents tonight!

This Thursday Night(December 12) is our Holiday Academic Night and Chorus Concert. Activities in your child's grade level will begin at 4:30. The chorus concert will start at 6:00 in the Gym. Mr. Vess will have a Title I Meeting from 4:00-4:30. Drop in and give your input about the Title I Program. We look forward to seeing each of you. PBIS presents the Tic-Tac-Toe tournament this Friday for 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. 1$ to play. Practice rounds will occur before the single-elimination tournament begins. The top three winners in each grade will win a prize from the PBIS store.

The Rock Paper Scissors Royale was a big hit! Congratulations to our winners!

Northwest Elementary is excited to announce our first-ever Rock Paper Scissors tournament this Friday! This event is for Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, and Third Grade. It only costs a quarter to play.

Friday, October 18, 5-7 pm is our Fall Festival. There is food, games, and fun. Please make plans to join our school community on this night. There will be games, food, a Hay Ride, a Cake Walk, a Haunted House, and the Scholastic Book Fair will be here. We look forward to seeing you. Remember you can pre-order tickets or pay at the door. The Haunted House is $3.00 at the door. All food items are $1.00. There will be Nacho, pizza, popcorn, and drinks. The books at the Book Fair are at various prices. We accept cash, credit cards, and checks at the Book Fair. Tax is not included in the price on the books. See you Friday Night!

Celebrate National School Lunch Week this year with Northwest Elementary! Encourage your students to eat school lunch this week. Our extraordinary lunch ladies will be handing out awesome prizes all week.
